Solid Opaque ( Modeling > press s s )

Tool summary :

  • Sets the display style of members that you select to, where possible, be solid opaque. Members that require solids to be created will continue to be stick members.

   Step-by-step instructions :

Solid Opaque is a tool in Modeling . It displays in solid opaque form those members that you select. You must do either step 1b (preselection) or step 3 (in-tool selection) to perform this operation.

1 . Before using this tool:

1a (if needed) : Process and Create Solids . Before they have undergone Create Solids , members can only be displayed in stick.

Select Items bindings (step 1b)

1b (optional) : In Select Items mode with an appropriate selection filter selected, use Select or Select+ (or draw an area box or Select Members by Number ) to select the member(s) that you want to change to solid opaque. When members are selected, they are displayed in the " Primary selection color ," which by default is green. Use Select- if you want to deselect members.

2 . Invoke Solid Opaque using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Solid Opaque icon, which is pictured above. The icon can be taken from the group named ' View -- Solids Mode ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Modeling layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose View > Solid Opaque .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Solid Opaque can also be configured to be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . The default keyboard shortcut for Solid Opaque is s s . If you preselected members (step 1b), you can right-click ( Menu ) then choose " Solid Opaque " on the context menu .

Method 6 : In Solids Mode , right-click ( Opaque ).

3 . Skip this step if you already selected members in step 1b.

Select Item(s) bindings

3a (if you didn't preselect) : Solid Opaque prompts you to use Select Item(s) mouse bindings to select one or more members that you want to change to solid opaque form. You can also select by drawing an area box or using the Model Tree . Press the Enter key or right-click ( Menu ) and choose " OK " on the menu when you are done selecting members.

4 . Solid Opaque displays the selected members in solid opaque form (except those that have not yet undergone Create Solids ). If you preselected (step 1b), the selected members continue to be selected -- that is, they are highlighted in the " Primary selection color ."

Tip: When you Open ( Ctrl + o ) a different view, you will find that members displayed in solid opaque in your current view are also solid opaque in that other view.
